Food n’ Fitness – And ROOT BEER FLOAT GUM!

by Cait @ Beyond Bananas on July 25, 2012

These Wednesdays keep on rolling through here like it is nobody’s business. It is a little bit exciting (and also a cause of anxiety as I realized this).. because as we move forward – there are two Wednesdays left before my wedding. (I apologize that I relate everything to my wedding. It is consuming my mind. Actually.. I’m not sorry. It IS exciting.. for me at least ;) ).

Being that it is Wednesday – it is time for my favorite link up party hosted by Jenn @ Peas and Crayons!!

Breakfast:

We went OUT to breakfast. I honestly can’t remember that last time Justin and I ate out for our first meal of the day. We discussed it. We both prefer eating breakfast at home. I think the last time we were out was when we went to San Francisco over a year ago….

Well – I didn’t get anything fancy – just an egg white omelette with tomatoes and spinach – alongside some fresh fruit. (Ketchup added shortly after photo was taken!)

I was disappointed. I was hoping for cherry tomatoes.. but got those regular (hot house?) tomatoes all sliced up. I hate those kinds of tomatoes. Reason #74389 why I like eating breakfast at home!

Lunch

Grilled Chicken wrap with lettuce – and ketchup. I also had some baby carrots and hummus that went unpictured.

Dinner:

Grilled Chicken with Salsa, 1/2 Sweet Potato with Salsa, small spinach salad on the side.  I got the chicken off the grill JUST before last night’s downpour started. Phew.

Snack:

Chocolate pudding, Peanut Flour Protein Frosting, 1/2 banana. This is one of my favorite night time snacks. I get a good dose of protein from the PF – and some chocolate. Touche.

I also spotted this while in Walmart the other day…

Umm. Yeah. Root Beer Float Gum. You know I was all over that. It is pretty good and tastes root-beery and floaty. But the Apple Pie & Watermelon Extra Dessert Delights still have my heart!

Fitness wise.. I don’t have any pretty collages for you this week.. but I can give you a rundown of my week’s workouts. It is something I haven’t done for a while..

  • Thursday 7/19 - REST
  • Friday 7/20 - 6 mile run & core strengthening
  • Saturday 7/21 -  18 mile bike ride (well.. stationary)
  • Sunday 7/22 - 2.5 mile run & 60 minute boot camp
  • Monday 7/23 - 20 minute elliptical warm up & Body Pump
  • Tuesday 7/24 - 30 minute HIIT on Treadmill (3.5 mi) & 45 minute legs
  • Wednesday 7/25 - 2 mile warm up & Body Pump (okay.. this is my plan.)

A good week of fitness for sure! I am warming up more and more to Body Pump – and have been to 6 classes now. I’ve done the newest release for the past 4 classes..which I know is typical. But I am bored of it. I will finish out my month of classes, but will not likely spend any more money to take Body Pump. It was a great experience though!

And in case you are really interested in watching the US Women’s Soccer Team in the Olympics.. there is a game TODAY. Very glad I randomly checked the schedule last night or I might have missed the game! 12:00 EST… The US Women’s Team plays France! I am excited!

Will you be watching the Women’s game today?

What was your favorite workout this week?

Thanks, Julie! While my workouts have definitely helped me to get to where I am muscle wise – the biggest component is eating clean! :)

I haven’t seen the Root Beer Float flavor yet :[ I’ll have to keep an eye out for it.

Well it’s still early in the week, but yesterday I had a pretty good workout. I’ll be posting it today.

Who can blame you if everything is related to your wedding? After all, that is one of the greatest moments in a person’s life.

Too bad that omelet wasn’t the best… it does look rather tasty, but when one ingredient throws it off, tomatoes in this case, well it’s a no win. And woman, you are allowed to talk about your wedding as much as you dang well please! It’s such an exciting time and I am happy for you :)

Agreed about a single thing throwing an entire meal off! Now I know what to ask what type of tomatoes are used in the kitchen! :)

Your nighttime snack looks so yummy! Love the peanut butter banana combo! I am a gum addict and just got the root bear float kind at Target! I am love with it but it looses flavor too quickly :(

Your meals look awesome.. was the omelette at Penny’s Diner?!!! haha! I want to eat your night-time snack, too.. YUM. Peanut protein frosting?? do you have a post on that? Does LA have the body pump?? Your work outs rock, girl! and… wedding so soon, eee!! :)

No! Not Penny’s Diner! I was up at my parents.. it is from a place called Leos!

The protein frosting is simply peanut flour and water. I order the Peanut Flour in bulk online since TJ’s no longer carries it..

LA does not have Body Pump. I bought a groupon to Intensity so I could give it a try!
Hope your back to back Zumba’s were awesome ;:)

My favorite workout this week had to be HIIT workout I did on Monday. It was only 20 minutes but it left me a hot, sweaty mess with shaking muscles!

My sister is addicted to that gum haha! As usual, everything looks fantastic, especially your lunch wrap:) I love going out to eat for lunch or dinner, but totally agree with you about breakfast. Unless of course it’s at a health cafe or juice bar- yum!

I think I can always find healthy options wherever I eat – regardless of the meal! Most restaurants that we frequent understand the different dietary needs/wants of the over populations and do what they can to make everyone happy!

I got it at Walmart! I won’t lie.. it gets stale in your mouth rather quick.. but I find that a lot of the dessert gums lose the flavors quickly!! Check Walmart if you are looking :)

Don’t even say root beer to me right now lol. I swear since becoming pregnant, it’s like my ‘go to’ non-alcoholic drink to replace the fact that I can’t have anything else with beer in the title haha. That gum sounds mighty delicious!

Favorite workout of the week? Its a toss up between the bike ride we did on Sunday, and breaking my mile PR in the pool on Wednesday! Its been a great week, thanks for asking!

Congrats on some great workouts, Cat! Breaking a PR in the pool? AWESOME! I wish I could just get in the pool and use it as an exercise! I think that both you – and the amazing Olympic swimmers that are doing their thing are helping me build the courage to actual get in the pool to do something OTHER than float around and sun! :)

That omelette looks so good! I wish I could make omelettes. It’s like the ONE thing I can’t cook haha. I suck at them :(

Reply

Cait @ Beyond Bananas July 30, 2012 at 7:37 am

I have no idea why this is something I can cook. I think it is because I used to watch my father and brother make phenomenal omelettes!
