Foodie Penpal Reveal

by Cait @ Beyond Bananas on January 31, 2012

Hi Friends!!  So… I ended up at the doctor yesterday. Annnd I am still home sick today. I am panicking a tiny bit over the whole.. missing two days of school in a row deal. BUT… I know that this sickness would drag on even longer than it already has if I try to push it and get to work. Normally, I would have just gone against the doctors orders and gone back to work today.. but this time I just can’t. I am too sick :( .
This is NOT my idea of fun. I’d happily trade this to be at work. Or be moving without pain. Boo!
This month, I decided to participate in the Foodie Pen Pal shin dig hosted by Lindsay @ Lean Green Bean. I have seen so many bloggers getting in on the fun.. and thought I should play along as well!
Unfortunately, I have yet to receive the package from my Foodie Pen Pal.. Ally. BUT I am super excited to receive it and will definitely let you know about all the goodies when I do receive it!
My pen pal. Kate, does not have a blog. Since she can’t post about the things I sent to her, so wrote up a little guest post and some pictures of the things I sent to her:

It’s official, I have found my foodie soul mate and her name is Cait. Don’t believe me? Well first off, check out these goodies!

Here is how I knew I had found my food soul mate:

1. I had just eaten the last of my dried mango stash and was quite upset about it being gone.
2. Real dark chocolate = the heart of life.
3. Those savory thin mini crackers tasted just like the Japanese beer crackers I ate while there, thus bringing back fond memories.
4. I went snowboarding this weekend and the Fiberful was the perfect snack on the lift rid up the mountain.

Now, if that doesn’t prove that my foodie pen pal and I have the perfect telekinesis connection of deliciousness then I don’t know what does!

Thanks Cait for a great foodie box :)

Sparkles, Sweets, and Scrumptiousness,

Kate

And now it’s time for some details about Foodie Penpals.  In case you’re a new reader, here’s a reminder of what the program is all about:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.

*Breaking news! This month we’re going to do a trial run for our Canadian friends. I’m still not exactly sure how it will work with shipping costs and stuff for you guys up North, but if you’re willing to give it a try for a month and provide me with some feedback, that would be awesome! Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!
If you’re interested in participating for February, please send  an email to Lindsay at theleangreenbean@gmail.com and include the following information:
-Your full name
-Your email address
-Your blog name/address
-Your twitter handle (if applicable)
-WHETHER YOU ARE A US RESIDENT OR CANADIAN RESIDENT. – this is SUPER important so I can get you on the right list!
I will need to hear from you by February 4th as pairings will be emailed on February 5th!
One last thing.. don’t forget to head on over to yesterday’s post where you can enter to win a $50 Spa Week Gift card.. that can be redeemed at one of thousands of spas across the country!!  I will be announcing the winner later today!!

Aw, I hate that you’re still feeling bad :-( what a bummer. You are right to stay home and rest. I wish I was laying on the couch – not sick, just laying on the couch.

Feel better soon!

So sorry you are this sick! Get some good noodle soup. I swear my matzoh balls.

Hopefully that bag of goodies will help too – dark chocolate has healing powers!

Those JUST MANGOES are a pantry staple at our place! My bf loves em ’cause they taste like candy, and I love em ’cause there’s no added sugar!
